A Firework Spectacular at Sherborne Castle.

On a cold and crisp November evening on Saturday, the 34th Sherborne Castle Fireworks provided a stunning evening of entertainment which once again enhanced the reputation of this long standing Sherborne Spectacular.

After a damp morning, the day brightened to provide a perfect winter backdrop to an evening of entertainment. The grounds of Sherborne Castle provided a scenic venue to all the activities and really showcased the beauty and splendour of this historic home.

The evening started with music from ‘Headland’ on the Events Crew stage and warmed the crowd up nicely for what was to follow.

In a joint production with the Octagon Theatre Yeovil, Snow White was on hand to entertain the crowd, however she was not able to stop the Wicked Witch from casting a spell that saw the bonfire burst into life and fireworks explode!

The firework show began at 7.30pm and reminded the 9000 people in attendance and the surrounding areas, just why this is considered one of the South West’s premier displays. From the rousing soundtrack to the stunning overhead display, the show kept everyone enthralled to the sounds of the Rossini’s William Tell Overture.

Sherborne Castle Fireworks is a locally run Not-For-Profit event which brings together all parts of the community into this stunning location and thanks must once again go to the Wingfield-Digby family for their support of the event and use of the castle grounds. This is one of the most spectacular locations for Fireworks and the overhead display mirrored on the lake is a sight to behold.

Brent Mitchell, Director of event organisers, Events Crew believes that without the kind help of Sherborne Castle this event would not be possible “We are pleased to partner with Sherborne Castle on this event and they support fully our efforts to raise money for local charities and groups. They provide us with a wonderful venue and the opportunity to continue our good work. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Sherborne Scouts for the incredible clean-up job they did on the Sunday.”

Next year’s show is already being planned and is scheduled for the 8th November, so be sure to put the date in the diary and see for yourself just what makes this show one the best in the South West.
