The name’s Fireworks, Sherborne Castle Fireworks!

The 33rd annual Sherborne Castle Fireworks took place on Saturday 3rd November and those that witnessed the impressive display were once again reminded why this event is considered one of the premier Firework displays in the South West.

The event which was attended by 8000+ people was an outstanding success with an evening of entertainment including a James Bond themed fireworks show, a bonfire, fairground rides and live music.

Brent Mitchell, Director of Events Crew comments: “I have worked on and organised this event for many years and this year was one of the best and biggest. The atmosphere of the crowd combined with the entertainment on offer made this a great evening out for all the family.”

The 20 minutes Fireworks show was themed around the 50yrs of James Bond and gave the people in attendance a chance to witness the incredible visual display with a pumping soundtrack of bond classics.

Alongside the display, entertainment was on hand from local band ‘Headland’ and they proceeded to entertain the ground with an impressive two set appearance littered with classics from the last 30 years.

The event is run by local, event management and supply company Events Crew on a Not-For-Profit basis and relies on help from the local community and in particular Sherborne Rugby Club and the Sherborne Scouts.  The event is run as a fundraiser for local groups and money raised goes to helping the groups who help the event.

Brent continues “I would like to personally thank the volunteers from Sherborne Rugby Club for their help pre, during and post the event. They were invaluable. I would also like to thanks the scouts and commend them on their duties on the Sunday litter picking in the snow!  I would also like to thank our local sponsors, J Day Engineering for their support with the event.”

Sherborne Castle Fireworks is a locally run Not-For-Profit event which brings together all parts of the community into this stunning location and thanks must once again go to the Wingfield-Digby family for their support of the event and use of the castle grounds.
