Sherborne Castle Fireworks light up the skies once more

Saturday 7th November saw the 36th Sherborne Castle Fireworks take place at the stunning Sherborne Castle in Dorset and this show proved once again why it is one of the most spectacular in the local region.

In a week marred by wet weather and high winds, organisers Events Crew proved their big event experience with a large marquee on site, hard standing traffic lanes and other measures just in case. However the 9000 people in attendance were treated to a perfect evening for the fireworks and rest of the night's activities.

Headland kicked off the show with a set of great rock songs to get the blood flowing and energy levels rising. The cast of the Octagon Theatre’s Pantomime Sleeping Beauty were working their way through the crowds, posing for pictures, before performing a short set and lighting the bonfire itself in an awesome manner.

Then at 7.30pm, the fireworks show itself started with a bang and kept the audience entertained throughout the full 20 minute duration building to a massive crescendo that left the crowd applauding and talking long into the night both in person and on social media forums.

Brent Mitchell, Director of Events Crew comments: “Sherborne Castle Fireworks is one of the highlights of the local calendar and we are very pleased that we could deliver such a well-received show. This year was challenging with the weather but we proved that come rain or shine there will always be a show.”

Maria Wingfield Digby of Sherborne Castle comments “We are very pleased to host Sherborne Castle Fireworks and work closely with Events Crew and the partners to deliver this successful show for the people of Dorset. Sherborne Castle is a great location and events like this really highlight the beauty and splendour of the Castle.”

Brent continues “We would like to thank Sherborne Castle and all our partners, J Day Engineering, Abbey 104fm, Dorset Timber Engineering, Headland and the Octagon Theatre in making this year one of the best ever and we look forward to delivering a bigger and better experience next year. We would also like to send a special thank you to all the volunteers who help make this event the success that it is.”

With such a successful event Sherborne Castle Fireworks will again be able to distribute monies to those who assisted including Sherborne Rugby Football Club, Sherborne Scouts, Sherborne Football Club and Sherborne Community Church Youth Group. The numbers are still being calculated and we will issue a separate Press Release on this in due course.

Sherborne Castle Fireworks will return next year for the 37th Year and plans are already beginning to make it even more spectacular and the date is Saturday 5th November. For more information on the event please visit www.eventscrew.com.
